SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reporting to Director of Food Services, the Dietary Helper assists residents at the evening meal times at Macassa Lodge.
GENERAL DUTIES
Assist residents to dining room and prepares for feeding by assisting with putting on bibs.
Assist with evening meal service in the dining room
Feed residents their meals and communicates intake to nursing when required.
Deliver and store food service and resident supplies as required.
Tidy kitchen or dining area as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned which are related to the responsibilities of the job.
Work in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Previous food handling experience is preferred.
2. Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, with respect to the operation of simple equipment and the ability to absorb an in-house training session.
3. Must possess or be able to obtain Food Handlers Certificate as offered by the Public Health Services within 30 days of employment. Once obtained, must renew at minimum every 5 years.
4. Effective communication skills and the ability to relate to peers and residents in a Long-Term Care Facility.
5. Must be respectful of confidentiality at all times with a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in a professional and respectful manner.
6. Must be self-motivated, self-directed worker who requires minimal supervision with the ability to multi-task duties and work under pressure.

0 – 24 per week
Shifts will be scheduled over evening mealtime
NOTE 1:
As a condition of employment, the successful applicant(s) will be required to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check or Vulnerable Sector Screening, at their own expense, prior to beginning work in this position.
