The Compensation Manager partners on the development, implementation, and management of the firm’s compensation processes, ensuring our pay programs attract, retain, and motivate colleagues while maintaining internal equity. The Compensation Manager will lead compensation analysis, manage salary structures, oversee incentive plans, advise leaders on compensation strategy and governance, and develop and manage the job description data bank
Program Execution
Support the implementation and communication of the firm’s compensation philosophy, policies, and structures.
Develop and maintain salary bands, pay grades, and compensation frameworks across job families.
Maintain compensation platform (CompXL), including bi-annual cycle setup and data integrity.
Lead bi-annual compensation planning cycles, including facilitating decision making processes, managing data integrity, overseeing colleague communications, and ensuring changes are reflected in Payroll.
Support the harmonization of the compensation model, mechanics, and administration for new firms integrating with Chartis.
Collaborate with the Finance (Payroll) team to address any ongoing compensation issues.
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local compensation laws (e.g., FLSA, Equal Pay Act, Pay Transparency).
Maintain documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
Market Benchmarking & Job Evaluation
Advise leaders on emerging trends, regulatory changes, and pay strategy impacts.
Lead firm’s participation in compensation benchmarking surveys.
Oversee and analyze results of compensation benchmarking surveys, including recommending revisions to salary bands and compensation programs.
Engage with Talent Acquisition team on compensation decisions and approvals from role definition through hire.
Supports ad hoc compensation benchmarking as needed throughout the year.
In partnership with relevant stakeholders, create, review and update job descriptions in accordance with emerging roles and responsibilities, ensuring appropriate leveling and compliance with FLSA standards.
Equity Program Administration
Assist with day-to-day management of the firm’s long-term incentive programs, including maintaining accurate cap table records, processing grants, vesting events, terminations, and reconciliations.
Provide operational support in partnership with Legal on plan documentation and compliance, and collaborate with Finance and HR to ensure accurate reporting and alignment on equity-related matters.
Help execute equity grants, repurchases, and related transactions in a timely and compliant manner, ensuring data accuracy and proper documentation.
Help draft clear communications and educational materials to support colleagues’ understanding of their equity holdings and program processes.
Support ongoing enhancements to equity administration processes, controls, and system utilization to improve accuracy, efficiency, and colleague experience.
Talent Analytics
Lead and/or contribute to broader set of talent initiatives as needed, with a focus on analysis and reporting.
Collaborate with colleagues across functions (e.g., Talent Operations, Finance) to enhance the firm’s talent analysis and reporting capabilities, with the assistance of tech-enabled tools.
Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Human Resources, Finance, or Business Administration. CCP certification is preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive compensation experience in a professional services environment (consulting highly preferred)
Desired Skills
Advanced Excel skills (data modeling, regression, and complex analysis).
Experience working with a compensation administration tool such as CompXL and survey databases.
Agility operating with the Workday and ADP HRIS environments, with a focus on extracting and creating reports, data and analysis.
Knowledge of incentive plan design, market pricing, and job architecture frameworks.
Understanding of long term-incentives (e.g., equity, performance units), ideally within a professional services environment.
Experience administering equity programs within a cap table management system (Carta experience strongly preferred).
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to draw insights from large data sets.
Strategic thinker who can balance data-driven analysis with business judgment.
Exceptional accuracy in data analysis, review and presentation.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially with senior leadership.
High integrity and discretion with confidential pay information.
Collaborative leadership style; ability to influence without authority.
Outstanding project management and organizational skills.
Salary range: $113,000-$139,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
