NAC is currently seeking a Mechanical Foreperson to initially join our Lakeshore WWTP project in Innisfil, ON. This position is a career development opportunity, with the potential to move into a Superintendent role.
Position Summary:
The Mechanical Foreperson is assigned to crew(s) to lead in the daily organization and control of labour, equipment and materials to ensure that the delivery of a high standard of HSE, quality and productivity are maintained by the crew.
Job Description:
Arrive to work each day ready to work and with a positive attitudePerform hands-on work duties while leading a crew of 3-5 mechanical tradespeoplePlan, monitor, and maintain proper use of hand toolsResponsible for maintaining organized and clean work areasProperly plan and monitor material and equipment deliveries so as not to impede the progress of the work; complete material/product requisitions for buying purposesProper material storage and protection to ensure delivered product is not lost or damaged right up to the point of commissioning and turn-overComplete regular timesheets for workforce including proper cost coding (as required)Layout installations of the trade workKnowledgeable and aware of the required quality of installations; direct and monitor quality; report on issuesIdentify quality, quantity and scope changes to the Contract and communicate to the supervisorAssist in preparing, monitoring and updating schedules (both CPM and Planning Aids) to ensure dates are met and improved upon. Understand the scope of your work and communicate any constructability issuesLead and give direction for the daily activities of construction employeesEnsure crews understand objective and the overall project scope, including the interaction of required work and how it impacts the other trade disciplinesProvide coaching and training as required; encourage positive moralOn a daily basis, ensure each of your crew members know the production and cost code expectations for the tasks at handEncourage and promote open communication and trust with the workforce; lead by example in the assigned work. Provide regular direction to your crewThis position will require 30% in the office and 70% in the field
Qualifications:
Possess a Plumbing trade certification. Additional pipefitting experience is an assetPossess a minimum of 2-3 years experience leading a crew of 3-5 peopleAbility to read and interpret instructions, drawings, sketches and specification to determine work activitiesStrong time management skills and attention to detailKnowledge of the general site specific occupational health and safetyAbility to lead and assess trade performance on the jobStrong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively use MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Able to work well under pressureWillingness to step in and help with production when required
