About the role
The Payor Solutions director will be responsible for leading Equip’s market growth strategy by helping shape how we expand access in key Medicaid markets as well as evolve our value proposition with legacy partners across all lines of business. Reporting to the VP of Payor Strategy, this role will establish strong cross-functional relationships with Payor Partnerships, Business Development, Marketing, Product, Care Operations, and Data teams to design differentiated, outcome-driven frameworks for new prospects and existing partners. The Payor Solutions Director will serve as an individual contributor and is designed for a strategic thinker with deep managed care experience who can translate ambiguity into structured solutions - and then bring those solutions to market.
Responsibilities
Own market growth strategy across priority Medicaid markets, including market selection, expansion sequencing, and partnership approach to inform where and how we grow.
Partner with executive leadership to align growth strategy with enterprise priorities and care delivery capabilities.
Lead the evolution of our value proposition for legacy health plan partners and new prospects
Structure solutions that align plan incentives, regulatory requirements, and operational realities.
Collaborate with Clinical, Care Delivery, Care Operations, Legal, and Finance to ensure solutions are both compelling and executable.
Guide complex sales cycles through structured problem definition, hypothesis-driven solutioning, and executive-level storytelling.
Support negotiations by framing tradeoffs, risks, and value in a clear, strategic way.
Serve as a strategic bridge between Payor Partnerships and internal teams
Bring structured thinking, market insight, and plan feedback into product, clinical, and operational decision-making
Help build repeatable growth and solutioning playbooks in a rapidly evolving environment
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in healthcare strategy, managed care, consulting, or growth roles.
Deep Medicaid experience, ideally from a health plan (MCO) environment,
Prior consulting background (strategy, healthcare advisory, or similar) strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous problem spaces and create structured, actionable strategies.
Strong executive presence and excellent communication skills with demonstrated comfort engaging with senior health plan stakeholders.
Experience with contracting, sales support, and go-to-market strategies.
Proficient in data analysis to drive strategic and operational decisions.
Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working with ambiguity.
Creative problem-solver for payor and operational challenges.
Ability to influence without formal authority, driving outcomes through relationships and clear communication.
Highly collaborative across all functions and levels.

Physical Demands
Work is performed 100% remotely with travel to client meetings required at least once per quarter. Must live with immediate access to the airport and reliable transportation. This position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
