The Principal Scientist, Radiochemistry is a specialist in radiochemical transformations and radiopharmaceutical design with a demonstrated history of innovative development in the field. This role will provide technical leadership for various R&D projects and will enable innovation within a multidisciplinary group focused on delivering innovative solutions into Telix’s radiopharmaceutical pipeline. As a leader in their field, the role may represent the organization in high-level scientific forums, while designing and directing studies to support pharmaceutical and/or equipment development activities. The incumbent will work autonomously with general input from the VP, Physical Sciences.
Key Accountabilities:
- Technology Development: Contribute to the development of radiochemistry technologies that align with business objectives and support the company’s competitive advantage in radiopharmaceuticals.
- Pipeline Innovation and Portfolio Advancement: Drive the evaluation, development and integration of radiochemistry innovations into the company’s R&D pipeline, ensuring robust scientific rigor, alignment with clinical and commercial objectives, and readiness for scalable manufacturing and tech transfer.
- Scientific and Technological Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in radiochemistry, and contribute to designing, developing and implementing innovative radiochemistry solutions to support the research, development, and manufacturing of radiopharmaceutical products.
- Clinical Applications: Advise clinical teams to develop and implement innovative applications of radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic imaging and therapeutic interventions, optimizing patient outcomes and clinical workflows.
- Technology Partnerships and Collaborations: Pursue strategic partnerships with technology vendors, research institutions, and healthcare providers to leverage external expertise and resources in advancing Telix’s technological capabilities.
- Thought Leadership and Scientific Influence: Serve as a thought leader in the field of radiochemistry, representing the company at international forums, shaping industry standards, and contributing to regulatory/scientific dialogue.
- Regulatory and Compliance Leadership: Ensure that radiochemistry development activities can comply with global regulatory standards (e.g., cGMP, ICH, CNSC) and proactively engage with regulatory teams, along with external agencies to support investigational and marketing applications.
- Risk Management: Anticipate and mitigate potential scientific, technical, and regulatory risks associated with research and development activities, escalating to the corporate risk register as appropriate.
- Change Enablement: Contribute to functional change initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, scientific quality, and innovation in radiochemistry processes.
Education and Experience:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) plus a minimum of 5 years of experience performing research and development in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, or a related field.
- Deep expertise in one or more areas relevant to radiopharmaceutical design and translation.
- Experience with innovation and technology development in the healthcare or life sciences industry.
- Experience leading complex technical programs across development stages.
