WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an experienced Accountant with strong indirect tax expertise to support and manage VAT-related matters with a strong Luxembourg, Dutch and EU VAT rules focus.
The role combines hands-on VAT compliance with a solid accounting background, including active participation in the preparation of periodic reporting, forecasting, budgeting and statutory compliance.
This position represents an excellent opportunity to work across Finance and Indirect Tax functions, supporting the Finance team in accounting and reporting activities while assisting the Indirect Tax team in the execution of VAT compliance duties.
SOME OF THE INTERESTING CHALLENGES AHEAD OF YOU
Indirect Tax Compliance
- Prepare, review, and file VAT compliance for Luxembourg and Dutch entities, including periodic and annual VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat declarations, and other statutory filings
- Support and coordinate VAT compliance for UK entities in collaboration with external advisors, ensuring consistency with internal accounting and tax standards
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant submission of VAT filings and related payments
- Actively participate in VAT audits, tax authority enquiries, and inspections, supporting documentation and reconciliation activities
- Maintain accurate and complete VAT records, ensuring reconciliation between accounting ledgers, VAT returns, and tax authority statements
- Manage VAT registrations and deregistrations with relevant tax authorities
- Prepare and monitor VAT refund claims, including domestic and cross-border EU VAT recovery
- Identify VAT risks, inconsistencies, and opportunities for process improvement and VAT optimization
Accounting, reporting, corporate compliance for Luxembourg, Dutch and UK based companies.
- Manage accounting, financial reporting, and corporate compliance for Luxembourg, Dutch, and UK entities.
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including bank reconciliations, vendor accounts, purchase orders, job costing, and invoice processing, ensuring compliance with Group P2P policies.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and deliverables for the corporate team, including posting statutory and IFRS accounting entries and reviewing work performed by external accountants.
- Perform periodic, month-end, and year-end general ledger postings, including allocations, prepayments, deferrals, accruals, and short- and long-term classifications; prepare comprehensive audit support documentation.
- Support internal and Group audits by liaising with auditors and ensuring timely completion of interim, final, and ad hoc audit requirements.
- Manage intragroup transactions, including issuance and reconciliation of intercompany service invoices (e.g., AMF, DMF, accounting services) as well as intercompany financing and repayments.
- Prepare and review annual budgets and provide support in reviewing budget submissions from other Group functions (e.g., PM,AM, Corp).
- Prepare, analyze, and regularly update financial forecasts in accordance with internal guidelines.
- Prepare, review, approve, and file annual statutory accounts.
- Support the implementation of new systems to enhance compliance, efficiency, and financial control.
- Continuously assess and improve financial processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, and automation.
- Assist in the testing and rollout of new systems and automated solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Asset Management, Property Management, Treasury Corporate, and Tax teams.
- Act as a finance business partner to management and other departments, providing financial insight and support.
- Support post-acquisition integration activities from an accounting and reporting perspective.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SHINE IN THIS ROLE
Technical Skills & Experience
- 5 + years of relevant experience in accounting, exposure to real estate industry is considered as an asset.
- Degree in Accounting or indirect tax (bachelor’s, Master’s level or equivalent).
- Strong hands-on experience with Luxembourg VAT and knowledge of EU VAT rules.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience with ERP systems, Yardi is a plus
