Senior Advisor - Economic Regulation and Pricing
This opportunity is a 18-months maternity cover.
Reporting to the Head of Airport Investment and Pricing, the Senior Advisor will play an important leadership role in the business working as part of the Strategic Planning team supporting on matters related to economic regulation and aeronautical pricing.
You will be integral in developing and executing the strategy to set aeronautical prices ensuring that Auckland Airport’s economic regulation obligations are met.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- To make a significant contribution to the development of Auckland Airport’s aeronautical prices, and leading others in the organisation through the pricing consultation process
- Meeting Auckland Airport’s economic regulation obligations through the development of high-quality consultation and disclosure documents independently with limited supervision
- Leading colleagues across the business on matters related to economic regulation, to ensure Auckland Airport is meeting its regulatory obligations
- Shaping engagement with external stakeholders including airlines and government to demonstrate that Auckland Airport is delivering outcomes consistent with our regulations
- Communicating complex issues clearly and succinctly to key stakeholders including senior executives, company directors, and external stakeholders
- Liaising with internal stakeholders across all aspects of the business to ensure to achieve outcomes that span the business
- Applying critical thinking and analysis to the development of materials to ensure that the conclusions reached are robust
- Drafting of submissions and consultation materials to a high standard that require minimal review from senior stakeholders
What you’ll bring to the role

You will have previously worked in relevant roles in the public or private sector, which may include government policy, legal, commercial, consulting, or analytical roles related to economic policy, regulated infrastructure, or business case development; having previous experience with the economic regulation of infrastructure and financial modelling skills would be a great advantage.
To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary degree qualification in finance, accounting, law, commerce, or economics (or equivalent body of knowledge)
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in relevant roles, which may include government policy, legal, commercial, consulting, or analytical roles related to economic regulation and policy, infrastructure development, or business case development
- Highly developed business writing and verbal communication skills, including well-developed presentation skills and a proven track record of writing high-quality technical submissions.
- The ability to lead and influence others and to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to express complex problems simply, and to develop and communicate information and messaging to a range of audiences.
- Sound understanding of commercial realities, and well-developed business acumen.
- Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels of the organisation
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, assimilate and analyse multiple issues and data points to draw sound insights – in the face of complexity, uncertainty and ambiguity.
