About the Role
The Senior Applications Database Administrator will work closely with the Engineering, Architecture, and Operations teams building and supporting our mission-critical database systems as Business Wire undertakes a digital transformation journey. As a member of the DBA team, you will be responsible for defining and supporting new and existing database systems across public cloud and traditional data centers. You will help guide best practices in database administration, data high availability, database management, database design, process improvement, requirements analysis, and the introduction of innovation with a focus on automation.
What You'll Do
Manage the full database lifecycle: initial installation and configuration of database technologies, deployment of engineered system design solutions, daily operations, administration, upgrades, and management of database technologiesProvide high-end technical DBA support within a variety of Operating Environments (OE) while also supporting/assisting software development and operational teams with database definition, structure, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and security/integrity controls according to industry best practicesPropose and implement enhancements to improve performance and reliability within the supported IT environmentsInstall, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle EBS environments including both database and application tiersManage EBS concurrent managers, workflows, and patch applicationTroubleshoot and resolve issues across database and application tiersProvide subject matter expertise in performance tuning and administration. Analyze and tune SQL and Oracle EBS Perform DDL code reviews and application code reviews for functionality related to a databaseIndependently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolutionWork closely with L1/L2/L3 support teams to proactively identify and resolve issuesParticipate in 24x7 on-call rotation
What You'll Need
7+ years of hands-on Oracle and MySQL database experience in a mission critical 24x7 environment Proven experience managing Oracle EBS environments including installation, patching, cloning, and performance tuningExperience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with an understanding of ITILExperience with full database lifecycle management: upgrades, patching, cloning, backups, and recoveryExperience with automated database deployment using Jenkins, Ansible, or similar toolsUnderstanding of Unix operating systemsNice to Have
4+ years of AWS experience designing and supporting hyper-scale mission critical database architecture2+ years proficiency in writing, profiling, and optimizing SQL queries for performance2+ years experience creating and maintaining Entity Relationship DiagramsUnderstanding of data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, modeling, and profilingStrong understanding of Java and other development frameworks Business Wire will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
What We Offer
The base salary range for this position is $150K to $165K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
