About the Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated and impact-driven Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Science team. In this role, you will be responsible for solving complex, high-impact business problems using data science and machine learning, and building decision systems that directly influence customer experience and business outcomes.
You will work on ambiguous problems across the customer journey, partnering closely with product, engineering, and business teams to design, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions. This role requires strong ownership, the ability to translate business challenges into analytical frameworks, and a deep understanding of how to measure and drive business impact through experimentation. You will contribute to key areas such as personalization, pricing optimization and fraud detection, working closely with product, engineering, and business teams.
As a senior member of the team, you will also play a key role in shaping data science best practices, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to the long-term evolution of data science capabilities at SSENSE.
What You Will Do:
End-to-End Development:
Ownership: Lead the full lifecycle of DS solutions, from initial problem framing to production deployment and monitoring.
Execution: Build scalable ML models and decision systems designed to solve ambiguous business challenges.
Maintenance: Ensure long-term model health through performance tracking, drift monitoring, and retraining.
Business Strategy & Impact (15%):
Translation: Turn complex data into actionable recommendations that drive revenue, conversion, and engagement.
Partnership: Collaborate with stakeholders to align data science initiatives with high-impact business goals.
Quality & Accountability:
Standards: Maintain high code quality and take full accountability for model accuracy.
Monitoring: Oversight of all live decision-support systems to ensure reliable performance.
Technical Leadership & Architecture:
Design: Partner with Engineering/ML Platform teams to build scalable, maintainable architectures.
Innovation: Stay current with emerging tech (LLMs, Deep Learning) and mentor junior team members.
Governance: Evolve organizational standards for DS tooling and methodology.
Education: Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field (Engineering, CS, Stats, or Math).
Proven Impact: 4+ years of experience in Data Science or Analytics, with a track record of driving measurable business outcomes.
End-to-End Execution: Demonstrated experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-level data products and ML solutions.
Technical Mastery: High proficiency in Python and SQL, including version control (GitHub) and data manipulation technologies.
Modeling Expertise: Strong command of advanced techniques, including Machine Learning, neural networks, and quantitative problem-solving.
Domain Knowledge: Preferred experience in E-commerce, AWS cloud solutions, or specialized areas like Recommendation Systems, Pricing, and Ranking.
Bilingualism: Proficient in both, French & English, spoken and written.
