About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, as Senior Financial Accountant, you will be a cornerstone of the finance department, ensuring the integrity of our financial data and driving efficiency in our reporting cycles.
You are expected to be both a "doer" and a "reviewer," maintaining high-level accuracy in our books while mentoring junior staff to reach that same standard. You will have a high degree of autonomy to recommend and drive process improvements.

What You’ll Do:
1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger Maintenance
- Support the period-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
- Maintain the General Ledger, including the review and approval of complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial data to explain variances between actuals, budgets, and prior periods.
- Assist in the preparation of external audit working papers and serve as a primary point of contact for auditors.
2. Treasury & Cash Management
- Oversee treasury payment cycles, ensuring all electronic fund transfers (EFTs) and wires are executed securely and on time.
- Monitor bank balances and prepare weekly cash reports
3. Tax Compliance
- Review and file GST returns.
- Review and file Excise tax returns.
4. Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of other members of the finance team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by streamlining accounting workflows and automating manual tasks.
- Act as a resource to the broader BHC team on all financial matters.
5. Ad Hoc Projects
- Support the Controller or CFO with special projects, such as system implementations. ERP system upgrades, and financial analysis.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Supervisory experience is helpful.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical "detective" skills, and the ability to solve complex problems and recommend practical solutions.
