Staff Software Engineer II

Position Overview

We are seeking a Staff Switching Software Engineer to drive technical strategy and product innovation across our SME-focused switching software organization. This role requires a recognized expert in embedded switching systems who can shape our technology roadmap, drive market-leading innovations, and establish engineering excellence standards for the small and medium enterprise market.

Key Responsibilities

• SME Market Innovation Strategy: Define and execute innovation roadmap for SME managed switching solutions, identifying breakthrough opportunities in simplified enterprise networking

• Product Architecture Leadership: Lead system architecture decisions for next-generation SME switching platforms supporting 800GB+ switching speeds while maintaining cost-effectiveness

• Market-Driven Innovation: Drive adoption of cutting-edge technologies specifically adapted for SME markets including AI-powered network management, edge computing integration, and IoT-optimized switching

• Competitive Innovation: Lead breakthrough product innovations that establish clear competitive advantages in the SME switching market

• Customer Innovation Partnerships: Establish innovation partnerships with key SME customers and channel partners to drive market-focused product development

• Industry Thought Leadership: Represent the company as a technical thought leader in SME networking, speaking at industry conferences and driving market education

• Patent Portfolio Development: Lead development of intellectual property portfolio focused on SME networking innovations

Advanced SME Product Knowledge

• Market Dynamics: Deep understanding of SME networking market trends, buyer behavior, and channel partner requirements

• Competitive Landscape: Expert knowledge of competitive products, market positioning, and technical differentiation opportunities

• SME Use Cases: Comprehensive understanding of SME networking use cases including remote work, cloud adoption, security requirements, and digital transformation needs

• Go-to-Market Strategy: Understanding of SME product positioning, pricing strategies, and market penetration approaches

Breakthrough Innovation Areas

• AI-Driven Network Management: Lead development of machine learning solutions for automated network optimization, predictive maintenance, and intelligent troubleshooting

• Cloud-Native Integration: Drive innovation in hybrid cloud networking, seamless cloud service integration, and cloud-managed switching solutions

• Security Innovation: Develop next-generation security features including zero-trust networking, automated threat response, and behavioral analytics for SME environments

• Edge Computing Integration: Pioneer edge computing capabilities in switching platforms for IoT, real-time analytics, and distributed computing workloads

• Simplified Enterprise Features: Innovate enterprise-grade capabilities with SME-appropriate simplicity including intent-based networking and natural language configuration

Strategic Technical Leadership

• Technology Roadmap: Define 3-5 year technology roadmap balancing innovation with market requirements and competitive positioning

• Architecture Evolution: Drive evolution of switching architectures toward software-defined, cloud-native, and AI-enhanced platforms

• Platform Strategy: Establish platform strategy that enables rapid innovation and customization for diverse SME market segments

• Technical Standards: Drive development of internal technical standards and contribute to industry standards relevant to SME networking

Innovation & Research Leadership

• R&D Investment: Lead research and development investments in emerging technologies with high SME market impact potential

• Innovation Methodology: Establish innovation processes including rapid prototyping, customer validation, and iterative development

• Academic Partnerships: Establish relationships with universities and research institutions for advanced networking research

• Startup Ecosystem: Engage with startup ecosystem to identify emerging technologies and potential partnership opportunities

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (PhD preferred)

• 10-15 years of switching software development with proven track record of product innovation

• 5+ years of experience developing products specifically for SME markets or similar customer segments

• Deep industry expertise and recognition in switching technology development with focus on market-driven innovation

• Proven track record of driving breakthrough product innovations with measurable market impact

• Experience with intellectual property development and patent portfolio management
