1. Preparation & Coordination
- Act as the client’s focal point for all umbilical pre‑commissioning activities onboard vessels, in yards and onshore facilities.
- Coordinate interfaces between installation teams, commissioning, engineering, vendors and HSE.
- Review umbilical pre‑commissioning procedures and provide technical comments.
- Identify technical issues requiring escalation during procedure review or installation meetings.
2. Umbilical Testing & Verification
Supervise and validate all umbilical‑specific pre‑commissioning tasks, including:
- Pre- and post‑loadout electrical, hydraulic and fiber‑optic testing
- Monitoring of umbilical installation operations
- Pre‑installation testing
- Post‑installation and post hook‑up testing
- Validation of OTDR traces, electrical tests, hydraulic pressure tests and continuity test results
- Ensuring compliance across Phases 0, 1 and 2 of the EPCI scope
3. QA/QC, Documentation & Reporting
- Review and sign off all relevant test records, calibration certificates and data sheets.
- Ensure field documentation accuracy and completeness for final handover dossiers.
- Provide daily progress reporting on umbilical activities, highlighting deviations, risks and forward plans.
- Contribute to lessons learned and project close‑out documentation.
. Safety & Field Leadership
- Participate in toolbox talks, HIRAs, JSAs and SIMOPS coordination specific to umbilical activities.
- Promote and enforce safety standards across all onshore and offshore scopes.
- Intervene immediately in case of unsafe acts, deviations or non‑conformances.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Subsea, Electrical, Controls, or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years Oil & Gas experience in technical, offshore or HSE‑related positions.
- At least 5 years experience in umbilical pre‑commissioning for offshore projects.
- Strong understanding of umbilical systems, subsea control systems and fiber‑optic/hydraulic testing.
- Familiarity with deepwater operations and vessel‑based construction activities.
- Knowledge of DNV/API/ISO standards and pre‑commissioning best practices.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, isometric drawings, hydraulic profiles and test diagrams.
- Strong communication and coordination skills in multicultural and high‑pressure environments.
- Ability to work offshore with required certifications (BOSIET, offshore medical, etc.).
- Fluent English
