Due to an internal promotion, Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane is seeking a nursing manager to lead our specialist and emergency nursing team. Established in 2017, ARH Brisbane has grown to a vibrant hospital of over 140 staff, while still retaining a fun, close-knit and family atmosphere. Your new role:

The nursing manager will work closely with our business manager, hospital manager and customer relationship manager, as well as our talented specialist and referral veterinary team, ensuring that our hospital is performing optimally while providing a healthy and caring workplace with patient centered care to pets and their people in a collegiate and ethically driven environment. 

We are looking for a veterinary nurse or veterinary technician with extensive clinical experience, strong and proven team management and leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and motivate a team of veterinary nurses and technicians. You will help us cultivate a genuinely friendly, caring team who are that is passionate about the continuous development and improvement of ARH Brisbane.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Full time role managing the day-to-day nursing operations of the hospital, overseeing nursing care and client services four days a week (with availability across a seven-day roster)
• Veterinary nurse training and development, including encouraging improvement and participation in continuing education
• Building and fostering a healthy, positive team culture
• Communicating the needs and wellbeing of the nursing team to the remainder of the management team
• Workforce planning including rosters and recruitment
• Administrative tasks including inventory management
• Clinical shifts on an as needed/fill in basis
• Ensuring all members of your team are up to date with opportunities, management news, and relevant planning and goals
• Ensuring compliance and completion of The Cage online learning modules across the nursing team
• Maintaining our ARH Brisbane standards, and ensuring our brilliant and highly-regarded staff are motivated, engaged and supported in their respective roles and duties

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

• Excellent time management, attention to detail, organisational and communication skills and ability to work towards deadlines
• Veterinary nurse or technician qualifications
• Being able to lead, and to lead by example
• Being able to handle a fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining a professional demeanour
