BiOptimizers is engaging a contractor to support data engineering. The contractor will work closely with internal teams, contribute to shared workflows, and maintain regular communication.

This engagement is structured as an independent contract. The contractor will invoice for services rendered and is responsible for their own schedule, tools, and tax obligations.

Responsibilities

AI-Assisted Coding - Cursor/Claude Code (Required)

• Expert-level proficiency required - this is non-negotiable

• Must demonstrate 3-5x productivity vs traditional development

• Uses AI tools as primary workflow for all coding tasks

• Can take requirements and ship production code in hours, not days

• Comfortable letting AI write majority of code while you guide and review

dbt Core Transformations

• Build and maintain RAW → Base → Data Marts pipeline

• Implement business logic in transformations

• Write tests and documentation

Python - Business Logic & Data Processing

• Implement complex business logic and data validation

• Build ETL scripts and automation workflows

• Write Python scripts to pull data from APIs (Meta, TikTok, Shopify, Klaviyo)

Data Quality & Testing

• Build comprehensive test suites for data validation (Great Expectations or similar)

• Implement business logic validation checks

• Maintain automated quality monitoring across pipeline
  

This scope may evolve during the engagement with mutual agreement.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency with AI coding tools (Cursor or Claude Code) - non-negotiable

• 2-5 years experience in data engineering or related technical role

• Strong Python skills for data processing, business logic, and API integrations

• Experience building and maintaining data transformations and pipelines

• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines in remote environment

• Ownership mindset - you estimate timelines, you deliver, you own the outcome

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

• US time zone

Preferred Qualifications:

• SQL and data modeling

• Experience in ecommerce and marketing tools (Klaviyo, Meta Ads, TikTok Shop, Shopify, etc.)

• Dagster/Airflow experience
  

Work Location

This is a fully remote position. BiOptimizers has a globally distributed team and supports flexible work arrangements across time zones.

Company Hours & Collaboration

With team members across many countries and time zone differences of up to 16 hours, we’ve established a standard collaboration window from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST.

This is not a required work schedule, but a shared time frame for meetings and team syncs. At BiOptimizers, we support flexibility — team members are encouraged to work the hours that best suit them, as long as they:

• Communicate effectively across time zones
