Data Science is expanding into all areas at Lumi, and we are looking for a junior-to-mid level Data Scientist to help foster its growth. This role is uniquely suited to a practitioner who views data through a mathematical and statistical lens. This role will be the primary steward of Lumi’s current models - ensuring they remain theoretically sound and accurate - while supporting the development of new models and conducting deep-dive statistical analyses to derive actionable insights across the business.
The Role
- Model Stewardship: perform ongoing maintenance, updates, and performance monitoring of live models to detect performance degradation and statistical anomalies to ensure our models remain fit for purpose as market conditions evolve.
- Model Development: assist the Lead Data Scientist in the end-to-end development of new models, from feature engineering to data validation.
- Inference & Statistics: conduct robust statistical analyses (hypothesis testing, significance testing) to provide clarity in areas of business uncertainty.
- Data Integrity & Retrieval: design and execute data queries to retrieve and cleanse data, ensuring the underlying distributions are understood and verified before use in modeling.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: work with disparate teams to understand their goals and translate their business constraints into mathematical frameworks.
- Communication: provide clear written and verbal communication, with a specific focus on translating complex statistical concepts into intuitive narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
