Your role is to lead our Marcomms function with its team of “Full Stack Storytellers” focused on customer verticals to tell powerful stories across channels about our innovation, impact and insights to prospective customers.
You’ll have the intellectual horsepower, organisational rigour and creativity to set and own clear, incisive Marcomms strategies across verticals, products and markets.
But you’re also low-ego, happy to roll up your sleeves and move decisively when challenges surface. You’ll come as a strong leader, with deep practical experience in some existing marketing or communications disciplines, including brand and PR.
On the cusp of an exciting rebrand, and with a goldmine of compelling and moving stories to tell, our Marcomms team is being built out in earnest for the first time in Beam’s history.
Reporting to the CEO, this role will supercharge our mission through the power of storytelling.
Becoming an expert on the challenges facing public services and the impact AI can have: highly commercial, you’ll work closely with Sales and Customer Success leaders to proactively nail the positioning of our brand and products
Managing a growing team of high-performing, generalist marketers: you’ll be directly responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of all Marcomms strategy, setting targets and instilling a high performance culture in the team
Overseeing integrated Marcomms strategy: this will traverse a complex range of:
disciplines (PR and influencers; owned and social media; hosted events and conferences; webinars, podcasts and digital events; channel and supplier partnerships; SEO and AEO, email campaigns and newsletters, etc.)
verticals (social care, employability, probation, community health, housing and more)
products (Notes, Talk, Interpret)
geographies (we’re serving organisations with thousands of employees in three Continents and our international business is growing fast)
Managing agencies: you’ll manage and challenge our agencies, getting us the best ROI, as well as signing off and coordinating freelancers
Responsible for the effective financial performance of Marcomms: working with Finance and Commercial, you’ll ensure we track and measure ROI from campaigns and experiments - and set and adhere to lean budgets
Working with functional experts to support your work: whether data-driven performance marketers, designers or with our global events support
A natural storyteller: spotting and presenting stories will come easily to you, with an intuitive grasp of how to present narratives to move people to action
A doer: while this role is a leadership role, at Beam we lead from the front, are in the details or our teams - with no job too small for a leader
Experienced with media relations: you are comfortable working with journalists at all levels, whether securing a key feature on Beam or advising on nuanced high-stakes comms under pressure
Results-driven: you thrive setting and working towards ambitious targets that will let us punch above our weight with brand awareness across geographies and verticals
Adaptive and resilient: you thrive in a fast-paced environment, want to raise the pace further, and are optimistic about overcoming obstacles while staying motivated
Passionate leader: you’ll inspire your team to use the power of storytelling to help deliver our mission, allowing them doing the best work of their careers
Strategic nous: you’ll keep our messaging on track where it needs to be and tailored where it needs it to be, ensuring your direct reports spend their time impactfully, knowing when to rely on data and when to trust your gut
At least 7 years’ relevant experience: while you’ll likely have been leading teams for several years, you still enjoy getting your hands dirty with at least two of Social Media, Blogging, PR, Events, and Email Marketing
Passion to use AI skilfully: the world does not need more AI slop: you’ll use AI to allow the team to tell more stories, better
Top class literacy and comfortable with data: stories are made up of words and numbers, you’ll be masterful with both
Creativity: there is no playbook, you’ll be writing it with the support of the C-Suite and other “Full Stack Storytellers” from across Beam
