Finance Manager / Controller

Tropic Square is a deep-tech company developing the world’s first transparent, auditable security chip. We are in a critical growth phase, transitioning from R&D to a venture-backed company. We don’t need a corporate CFO who manages spreadsheets from an ivory tower.

We need a hands-on Finance Manager who will own our numbers, guard our runway, and build the financial infrastructure we need to secure Series A funding.

We are open to both part-time and full-time collaboration, depending on mutual fit and availability.

👉 What you'll do

• You'll be the right hand to the COO, ensuring our financial strategy is executed, not just planned

• Own the Master Budget: Take full ownership of our financial model and budget planning and tracking

• Cash Flow Management: Monitor our burn rate in real-time. Manage accounts payable (decide when to pay invoices to optimize cash flow) and oversee contractor payments

• Runway & Reporting: Prepare the weekly "Survival Board" report for the Founders (Cash status, Runway in days, Burn rate)

• Fundraising Support: Assist the CEO in preparing the financial data for Series A investors (financial projections, unit economics, historical data)

• Process Implementation: Bring order, automation, and discipline to financial processes

• HR & Payroll Admin: Oversee the financial side of the team—contractor invoicing, payroll preparation for the external accountant

💪 Who are we looking for?

• Startup DNA: You have 3+ years of experience in a startup or scale-up environment. You understand terms like Burn Rate, Runway, Bridge Financing, Convertible Note, and ESOP

• Data Wizard: You don’t just make tables; you build dynamic models. You can turn messy data into a clear dashboard and actionable insights

• Direct & Transparent: You are not afraid to tell stakeholders: "We cannot afford this right now." You value brutal honesty over polite silence

• Language Skills: English is your working language, and you’re fluent enough in Czech to handle local communication, including authorities and institutions

• Detail-Oriented but Fast: You can spot a mistake in a 100-row spreadsheet, but you understand that in a startup, speed often beats perfection

• Experience with Hardware/R&D companies (understanding Capex, inventory, manufacturing costs) is nice to have

• Experience with Grant financing (EU/National subsidies) is advantageous
