About SafeLease
At SafeLease, we're rethinking how P&C insurance is sold in an age of technological change. We believe the industry's biggest inefficiencies aren't technical problems — they're structural ones. And we're building the team to tackle them.
SafeLease is a profitable insurance business that designs, underwrites, and distributes specialty coverage for commercial property owners and their tenants. Most insurance companies either distribute products or bear the risk — we do both. We back our policies with our own capital, which means we control the full stack: product design, tech, and the speed at which we move. That end-to-end ownership lets us offer customers real flexibility, saving time and money for more than 4,000 properties insured for billions in value nationwide.
We're a team of 70, growing over 100% annually, and we've done it without sacrificing profitability or culture. Here, you'll get high discretion and a wide aperture of problems to solve. We embrace the newest technologies, move fast together, and operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in.
We're looking for a General Manager to own and build our Manufactured Housing vertical from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to operate as an entrepreneurial leader inside an already-profitable, high-growth insurtech — bringing SafeLease's proven playbook of embedded insurance, purpose-built software, and in-house underwriting to the $100B+ manufactured housing industry.
The manufactured housing sector — encompassing mobile home parks, manufactured home communities, and land-lease communities — represents a massive and underserved market for modern insurance products. Community operators face many of the same pain points SafeLease has already solved in self-storage: fragmented coverage, low tenant protection adoption, rising commercial insurance costs, and a lack of purpose-built technology.
You are willing to roll up your sleeves and move quickly - defining the strategy, designing the product, and driving P&L outcomes. You'll have the backing of SafeLease's existing insurance infrastructure, underwriting capabilities, technology platform, and carrier relationships.
Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for SafeLease's manufactured housing vertical, including market segmentation, pricing, distribution, and competitive positioning
Conduct deep discovery with manufactured housing operators, industry associations, and property management software providers to understand the unique risk landscape and purchasing dynamics
Identify and prioritize product–market fit opportunities across tenant insurance/protection, commercial property & liability, and other coverage lines relevant to manufactured housing
Collaborate with SafeLease's underwriting, product, and engineering teams to adapt and extend the platform for manufactured housing workflows, lease structures, and regulatory requirements
Own the end-to-end customer experience — from onboarding and enrollment through claims resolution — ensuring it meets the operational realities of community operators and residents
Build and refine insurance program structures in partnership with carrier partners, including coverage design, pricing models, and compliance frameworks specific to manufactured housing
Own the manufactured housing P&L — including revenue forecasting, budget management, and unit economics
Report regularly to executive leadership on vertical performance, market learnings, and strategic recommendations
5+ years of progressive leadership experience in insurance, insurtech, proptech, or a closely related industry
Deep familiarity with the manufactured housing industry — whether through operating communities, serving the sector as a vendor/partner, or investing in the space
Demonstrated track record of building a new business, vertical, or product line from zero to meaningful revenue (ideally $5M+ ARR)
Strong understanding of commercial property insurance, tenant protection/renters insurance, or specialty lines underwriting
Comfort operating in a startup-like environment: ambiguity, speed, resource constraints, and wearing many hats
Exceptional relationship-building skills — able to earn trust with community operators, carrier partners, regulators, and internal teams alike
Analytical rigor — you make decisions informed by data, unit economics, and market evidence
Prior experience at a Managing General Agent (MGA), program administrator, or carrier in specialty commercial lines
Existing relationships with manufactured housing operators, REITs, or industry associations
Experience integrating insurance products into property management or operational software platforms
Familiarity with state-level insurance regulatory environments and compliance requirements for tenant-facing coverage products
