JOB TITLE: HEAD OF RETAIL BANKING

Job purpose:
The Head of Retail is responsible for overseeing the retail banking business, providing strategic leadership and development of the Bank’s Retail business while maintaining high level of customer satisfaction and business growth. The position will ensure leadership of high performing teams to deliver financial solutions that meet the needs and expectations of our existing and potential Retail customers with a view of maximizing returns to all shareholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for retail banking to drive growth, profitability, and market share.
- Align retail banking strategies with overall organizational goals and market opportunities.
- Oversee the development, enhancement, and management of retail banking products and services, including savings accounts, loans, mortgages, and digital banking solutions.
- Ensure that products meet customer needs and competitive standards.
- Optimize retail banking operations for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
- Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational performance.
- Lead and manage the retail banking team, including branch managers and relationship managers.
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional development within the team.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase market share.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships to drive growth.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards across all retail banking channels.
- Implement initiatives to enhance the customer experience, address feedback, and resolve issues promptly.
- Oversee the management of risks related to retail banking operations, including credit, operational, and compliance risks.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
- Prepare and manage the retail banking budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Monitor and analyse financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and trends in the banking industry.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and digital solutions to enhance retail banking services and operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as senior management, marketing, and product development teams, to align retail banking initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
- Represent the retail banking division in meetings with regulators, partners, and other external stakeholders.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Holders of CIB, CPA, ACCA or other relevant professional qualifications will have an added advantage
Work experience
- 8 years’ experience in banking at least 6 years working experience Commercial / business units of which at least 3 years should be at Managerial level.
