At Acquisition.com, we’re a team of entrepreneurs on a mission to make real business education available to everyone. There are 34 million small and medium businesses in the United States. They’re the backbone of the economy, but many will never reach their full potential because the education available to them is outdated, impractical, and built for classrooms instead of companies.
We’re fixing that by giving founders and business owners the tools, knowledge, and support they need to grow. The proof is in our results:
Built an Advisory Practice that’s already served more than 3,500 clients in its first year
Broke the world record for non-fiction book sales in 24 hours with $100M Money Models
Scaled to nine figures in 18 months without any outside capital
We believe in high standards, hard work, and helping others win. If that resonates, you’ll feel at home here.
Acquisition.com is seeking a Revenue Manager to own and scale our end-to-end revenue accounting function. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, GAAP-compliant revenue recognition across an expanding mix of products and revenue streams.
As we continue to grow and innovate, the Revenue Manager will design and implement scalable revenue recognition, billing, and deferred revenue processes in accordance with ASC 606. You’ll work cross-functionally with Accounting, Technology, Sales, Operations, Client Success, and Leadership to ensure new offerings are structured thoughtfully from a revenue and systems perspective—balancing speed with strong financial controls. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical accounting judgment with operational curiosity and a willingness to build alongside the business.
Revenue Ownership & Recognition
Own revenue recognition across all revenue streams, including workshops, books, content and emerging products/services.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC 606, including identification of performance obligations and appropriate revenue timing.
Review and approve deferred revenue schedules, amortization logic, and revenue journal entries prepared by the Revenue Specialist.
Partner with the CFO and Controller on monthly and quarterly close to ensure revenue, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and related balances are accurate and well supported.
Serve as the escalation point for complex revenue questions, contract structures, and edge cases.
Accounts Receivable & Deferred Revenue Management
Partners with billing to understand accounts receivable processes, including billing logic, payment application, aging analysis, and reconciliation to revenue.
Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of deferred revenue schedules tied to customer contracts and delivery timelines.
Design and maintain deferred revenue roll-forwards and supporting schedules at a customer and product level.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure operational data (event dates, delivery milestones, inventory fulfillment) supports accurate revenue recognition.
Inventory & Cost Accounting (as applicable)
Partner with Accounting and product fulfillment to ensure inventory-based revenue and related balances are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
Ensure inventory, event, and bundled offering costs are recognized in the appropriate period and properly matched to revenue.
Review book shipping and fulfillment data to calculate weighted-average unit costs and recognize inventory expense as COGS upon shipment or delivery.
Systems, Data & Process Design
Own the reconciliation between HubSpot, QuickBooks, and supporting tools (e.g., Zapier), ensuring clean and auditable data flows.
Design scalable processes to support new revenue streams as they are launched.
Improve automation, reporting, and documentation around revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
Identify gaps or risks as the business grows and proactively design solutions.
Operational Oversight & Support
Provide leadership with clear visibility into revenue by customer, product, and period.
Provide day-to-day direction and review for VA support resources, ensuring revenue-related data, schedules, and reconciliations are accurate and complete.
Establish clear processes, controls, and documentation to support a scalable and audit-ready revenue function.
Partner with Accounting and external advisors to ensure accurate sales tax treatment, system setup, and reconciliation of sales tax liabilities related to revenue activity.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5–7 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting.
Strong expertise in:
Accounts receivable
Deferred revenue
ASC 606 / GAAP revenue recognition
Accrual accounting
Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
Experience reconciling revenue across systems (e.g., CRM to ERP/accounting system).
Strong Excel skills (amortization schedules, reconciliations, analysis).
Comfort operating in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
Willingness to be hands-on and build processes, not just review them.
Experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, QuickBooks, Rillet or similar CRM/accounting integrations.
Exposure to multiple revenue models (events, subscriptions, inventory, milestone-based revenue).
Experience supporting rapid growth or newly launched revenue streams.
CPA or CPA-track (nice to have, not required).
Accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant revenue recognition across all revenue streams
Clear visibility into AR, deferred revenue, and revenue timing
Scalable revenue processes that can support rapid growth and new offering
