Lead Software Engineer - PLSQL

Our client is one of the largest employers of Greece and one of the largest retail and wholesale groups, operating a nationwide network of hundreds of stores and distribution facilities. The company plays a key role in food retail and B2B wholesale, serving both consumers and professional customers at scale.

At the core of its operations is a robust, in-house supply chain technology ecosystem, including:

• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
• Demand Planning & Forecasting platforms

These systems are mission-critical, ensuring product freshness, high availability and operational efficiency across a complex, high-volume supply chain.

The company is currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer to:

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers
• Remain hands-on in the design, development, and optimization of large-scale supply chain systems
• Drive engineering best practices, architecture decisions, and system reliability
• Collaborate closely with product, operations, and supply chain stakeholders

This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys leading by example, working on complex distributed systems and having a tangible impact on real-world operations at scale.

Mission:

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will have to ensure reliability, scalability and continuous evolution of the company’s core supply chain platforms, systems that directly impact product availability and operational efficiency across a large retail and wholesale network. By combining hands-on engineering excellence with strong technical leadership, you will guide teams in building robust, future-ready solutions. You will set high engineering standards, shape architectural direction and foster a culture of quality, ownership and collaboration. Ultimately, the role exists to translate complex supply chain needs into resilient, high-performing technology, enabling the business to operate efficiently today while remaining adaptable to tomorrow’s growth and complexity.

Requirements

You will be responsible for:

Technical Leadership & Team Guidance

• Providing day-to-day technical direction to engineers working across WMS, TMS and Demand Planning systems.
• Reviewing and guiding architectural decisions, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Establishing and promoting engineering best practices, coding standards, and development workflows.
• Mentoring and supporting engineers in their technical growth.

Hands-On Engineering

• Participating in the design, implementation and maintenance of complex back-end processes in PL/SQL and Oracle technologies.
• Improving system performance, reliability and security across high-volume retail operations.
• Contributing to modernization efforts, helping evolve legacy components into more modular and future proof architectures.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Working with the Engineering Manager to understand technical priorities and delivering high quality solutions aligned with the roadmap.
• Coordinating with cross-functional technical teams to ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
• Helping maintain strong documentation, observability and operational readiness across platforms.

Requirements

Must Have

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering with strong expertise in Oracle databases and PL/SQL.
• Demonstrated capability in leading engineering teams or technical initiatives.
• Experience designing and implementing large-scale enterprise systems, ideally in supply chain, logistics, or similar complex operational environments.
• Working knowledge of Greek and English.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to the .NET ecosystem.
• Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
