Position Summary
We are seeking a Machine Operator - Converting who is responsible for the setup, operation, and cleanup of converting equipment to produce finished goods that meet quality and production standards. This role ensures equipment runs at optimal performance, production schedules are met, and safety and housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
We work 12-hour shifts (either days or nights, No rotating) on a 2-2-3 schedule, which gives every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and monitor converting machines in accordance with production specifications and work instructionsVerify product quality throughout production by conducting visual and measurement checks and making necessary adjustmentsMaximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at established speed and capacity targetsAccurately complete production reports, including production counts, downtime, quality data, and machine status updatesReview production schedules and coordinate machine changeovers to meet cost, quality, and service goalsIdentify and communicate maintenance needs; submit work orders and proactively support equipment upkeepTrain, guide, and support First and Second Helpers to ensure safe and efficient machine operationCross-train on additional converting lines to support operational flexibilityMaintain compliance with all safety procedures, company policies, and housekeeping standardsAssist with material handling and perform other duties as assigned to support production objectives
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GEDMinimum six (6) months of experience in a manufacturing or production environmentAbility to read and follow production instructions, factory masters, and job ticketsStrong mathematical skills, including the ability to read a tape measure accurately and calculate percentages, measurements, and ratesAbility to apply practical problem-solving skills in a structured production settingWillingness to rotate responsibilities with team members as needed to support production flow
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience operating converting or packaging equipmentExperience performing duties equivalent to a machine helper or load formerForklift certification or ability to obtain lift truck operator license
