The Maintenance Engineer III is responsible for plant predictive and preventive maintenance programs, equipment failure analysis, spare parts inventory improvements, plant lubrication programs, and infrastructure maintenance. Executes capital and expense projects to reduce cost, improve reliability and provide an expedited ROI. Oversees the operation and maintenance of the plant utilities including steam, compressed air, cooling water, and natural gas. Requires a thorough understanding of boilers, air compressors and cooling towers.

Develop and implement equipment reliability initiativesAssist production to optimize plant productivity and qualityTechnical resource for production personnel on plant utilitiesAssist maintenance employees in their skills by giving technical advice and directionProvide leadership implementing long term solutions to recurrent problemsQuickly provide troubleshooting and problem solving as difficulties ariseReview and optimize the predictive and preventive maintenance programsCommunicate daily with area coordinatorsPosition is on-call 24/7 to support all aspects of maintenance and production
Projects:
Implement improvement projects (scope, cost estimation, request capital money, supervision of fieldwork, commissioning)Investigate frequent equipment failures to help identify root cause and implement long-term solutionsOversee outside contractors in support of plant requirements
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical or chemical engineering preferred5 or more years of engineering experience in chemical or food processing industries
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Expert working knowledge of production equipment and chemical processesKnowledge of industrial maintenance techniques (PM, PDM, CMMS, RCM, TPM)Understanding of good engineering and safety practicesAbility to coordinate, train, and motivate hourly employees and outside contractorsGood communication and technical writing skillsAbility to estimate, plan, schedule, and complete work orders in a timely fashionAbility to manage budget and to estimate costs related to various projectsKnowledge of capital money management and return on investmentStrong teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and support maintenance teams
