Occupational Therapist
- Assessing and evaluating patient’s conditions and needs
- Assessing a patient’s home and/or work environment and recommending adaptations to fit the patient’s needs and improve independence
- Developing treatment plans to address patient’s needs and help them meet specific goals
- Implementing therapy
- Evaluating progress
- Educating, counseling and training patients and their caregivers to use special equipment
- Developing physical rehabilitation programs to help clients regain lost skills
- Preparing clients for a return to work.
- Documenting patient care
Qualifications
- Educational Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education).
- Certified by the National Board for Certification.
- Compliant with the National Medical Association healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Certifications in Pediatrics, Mental Health, Physical Rehabilitation and feeding, eating and swallowing.
- Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and physical therapy programs.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to take care of clients with different personalities.
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
- Ability to assess patient conditions and work with treatment plans.
Professional Qualifications
He or she must be registered under the Medical Rehabilitation Therapy Board of Nigeria
