General Characteristics (Job Summary)
- Performing quality activities in accordance with the quality management system established.
- Establish inspection and test plans and its record forms as per project requirements and international codes & standards.
- Carry out inspections on discipline responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements, and recording its result.
- Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Managing and performing inspection of Steel-Structure discipline.
- Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
- Prepare / Review the following Quality procedure documents submitted by the Subcontractors such are Inspection Test Plan (ITP), Material Approval Request (MAR).
- Prepare / Review / Approve the related inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
- Controlling inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
- Setting and applying practical inspection process of particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes (providing ITP & managing Matrix).
- Control NCRs to be closed out within the due date and supporting to prepare Corrective Action Plan properly.
- Performing and coordinating for the inspection with client.
- Carry out QC Supervisor’s responsibility in their absence.
- Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
- Review and track material submittals required for Steel-Structure Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
- Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors related to Steel Structure Definable Features of Work.
- Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
- Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.- Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
- Monitor and inspect specific Structural related activities such as grating alignment, kick plate/ladder/handrail installation.
- Ensure bolt tightening of each Steel-Structural component are compiled as per requirement.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Certificate related to mechanical discipline
Experience
- From project start to completion.
Knowledge
- Technical knowledge and familiar with related international codes and standards in particular discipline.
- Able to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
- Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figuring out solutions.
- Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale project (0.5~1.5 billion dollar).
- Thorough working knowledge of International Codes and Standards, specifically ASME and API Codes / Practices, and specifications associated with all types of static/rotating equipment and piping.
