About The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team for a remote role based in Canada. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, you’ll be part of a team that is transforming our finance function into a "bank-grade" operation. You will be responsible for full-cycle accounting at KOHO, playing a critical role in building the financial infrastructure required for our transition to a banking license.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Month End Close – Performing key month end activities (preparation of journal entries and reconciliations) with accuracy and efficiency, delivering "audit-ready" working papers that require minimal review.

• Technical Accounting – Determining accounting treatment for areas like IFRS 9 loan provisioning, debt facility covenants, and equity-based compensation, ensuring our treatment is compliant and well-documented.

• Financial Controls and compliance - Executing and documenting internal controls to ensure our financial data is accurate/secure and managing monthly tax compliance tasks (such as GST/HST filings) to keep us in good standing with auditors and external regulators.

• Automation/AI improvements - Identifying manual bottlenecks in our reconciliation processes and actively working to automate them using our tech stack Netsuite and emerging AI tools.

• Bank license application – Assisting with the transition to a schedule 1 Bank by supporting data migration, setting up new GL structures and preparing for new regulatory reporting requirements.

Who You Are

• Designated Professional: You hold a CPA designation with 3-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably with a background in public practice (audit) or a complex industry environment (fintech/banking).

• IFRS Proficient: You have a strong working knowledge of IFRS and are comfortable applying accounting standards to real-world business scenarios without needing constant guidance.

• Tech & AI: You are an advanced Excel user and proficient with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred). You have a curiosity for AI and automation, always looking for a "better way" to solve repetitive problems.

• Detail-Oriented & Accountable: You take immense pride in the accuracy of your work. You don't just "roll forward" spreadsheets; you understand the underlying business logic and proactively flag anomalies.

• Adaptable & Collaborative: You thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift, and you communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

The budgeted salary range for this role is $82,000 - $110,000 CAD / year.

Nous recherchons un(e) Comptable sénior pour rejoindre notre équipe dans le cadre d'un poste en télétravail basé au Canada. Relevant du/de la Gestionnaire, Information financière, vous ferez partie d'une équipe qui transforme notre fonction finance en une opération « de calibre bancaire ». Vous serez responsable du cycle comptable complet chez KOHO, jouant un rôle essentiel dans la mise en place de l'infrastructure financière nécessaire à notre transition vers une licence bancaire.

Ce que vous ferez

• Clôture de fin de mois – Effectuer les activités clés de fin de mois (préparation des écritures de journal et des rapprochements) avec exactitude et efficacité, en produisant des dossiers de travail « prêts pour l'audit » nécessitant un minimum de révision.

• Comptabilité technique – Déterminer le traitement comptable pour des domaines tels que le provisionnement des prêts selon IFRS 9, les clauses restrictives des facilités de crédit et la rémunération à base d'actions, en veillant à ce que notre traitement soit conforme et bien documenté.

• Contrôles financiers et conformité – Exécuter et documenter les contrôles internes pour assurer l'exactitude et la sécurité de nos données financières, et gérer les tâches mensuelles de conformité fiscale (telles que les déclarations de TPS/TVH) afin de maintenir notre bonne réputation auprès des auditeurs et des organismes de réglementation externes.

• Amélioration par l'automatisation et l'IA – Identifier les goulots d'étranglement manuels dans nos processus de rapprochement et travailler activement à les automatiser en utilisant notre pile technologique NetSuite et les outils d'IA émergents.

• Demande de licence bancaire – Participer à la transition vers une banque de l'annexe I en soutenant la migration des données, en établissant de nouvelles structures de grand livre et en préparant les nouvelles exigences en matière de rapports réglementaires.

Votre profil

• Professionnel(le) agréé(e) : Vous détenez le titre de CPA avec 3 à 5 ans et plus d'expérience en comptabilité, idéalement avec une expérience en cabinet (audit) ou dans un environnement sectoriel complexe (fintech/secteur bancaire).

• Maîtrise des IFRS : Vous possédez une solide connaissance pratique des IFRS et êtes à l'aise pour appliquer les normes comptables à des situations d'affaires concrètes sans avoir besoin d'encadrement constant.

• Technologie et IA : Vous êtes un(e) utilisateur(trice) avancé(e) d'Excel et maîtrisez les systèmes ERP (NetSuite de préférence). Vous avez une curiosité pour l'IA et l'automatisation, toujours à la recherche d'une « meilleure façon » de résoudre les problèmes répétitifs.

• Souci du détail et sens des responsabilités : Vous tirez une immense fierté de l'exactitude de votre travail. Vous ne faites pas que « reconduire » les feuilles de calcul; vous comprenez la logique d'affaires sous-jacente et signalez proactivement les anomalies.

• Adaptabilité et collaboration : Vous vous épanouissez dans un environnement dynamique où les priorités peuvent changer, et vous communiquez clairement les concepts financiers aux parties prenantes non financières.
