We are currently supporting one of our clients in the FMCG (food) sector in hiring a proactive and commercially driven Strategic Buyer. This role is focused on actively building and expanding a high-quality, differentiated product portfolio by sourcing unique food products from European and Asian markets. You will play a key role in driving category profitability through supplier strategy, effective negotiations, and introducing innovative products to the Polish market. This is an end-to-end procurement role with strong exposure to international business and cross-functional collaboration.
YOU WILL
- Proactively identify, approach, and onboard new suppliers and distributors across Europe and Asia, building relationships from scratch
- Manage the full sourcing and procurement cycle, including offer analysis, supplier selection, and private label product development
- Lead commercial negotiations (pricing, payment terms, exclusivity) and formalize supplier agreements aligned with business goals
- Build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to maximize long-term value
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Logistics, Quality, Marketing, and Finance teams to ensure smooth product launches
- Monitor market trends, consolidate orders, and continuously optimize purchasing conditions and costs
Requirements
YOU NEED
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an independent Buyer/Strategic Buyer within FMCG/food industry, including proven success in importing products to the Polish market
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to drive and enforce commercial agreements
- Experience working directly with suppliers from Asia (e.g. China, Vietnam, India) and Eastern Europe/Baltics, with solid understanding of cross-cultural business practices
- Knowledge of food import regulations within the EU
- Strong analytical skills and ability to compare offers, work with data, and draw actionable insights
- Language skills: Polish (min. B1/C2), Russian (min. B2/C1), and English (min. B2) for effective international communication and negotiations
