About the Role
As a Big Data Architect, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving the data architecture that underpins highly demanding, data-driven products within the iGaming industry. This role sits within the Data Engineering team, working closely with the Lead Big Data Engineer, Enterprise Data Architect, and BI leadership from the earliest stages of solution design.
You will be responsible for defining current and future-state data architectures, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and alignment with best practices. Your expertise will directly influence platform evolution, technical decision-making, and delivery planning across the full software lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Assess the current (“as-is”) data platform and define the future-state architecture in collaboration with the Big Data Engineering leadershipPerform gap analysis and contribute to the implementation of the future-state data platformWork closely with internal stakeholders including team leads, enterprise architecture, data governance, and data DevOps teamsDraft and review big data architectures alongside senior engineering and BI leadership to ensure optimal technical solutionsSupport refinement sessions by contributing accurate effort sizing and architectural inputProvide guidance to avoid silos by ensuring architectural decisions are inclusive and scalable across teamsContribute to project planning through architectural insight and risk awarenessPromote best practices across the Big Data Engineering team, ensuring data accuracy, validity, reusability, and consistent coding standardsStay up to date with emerging Big Data technologies and trends, communicating their value clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesSupport collective peer review practices and improve overall architectural quality
Requirements
Strong experience in data modelling and schema designProven background designing data warehouses, data lakes, and enterprise data schemasDeep understanding of data flows, data lifecycle management, and enterprise data frameworksExcellent SQL knowledge with hands-on experience in query authoringStrong experience with both relational and non-relational databases, including columnar databasesSolid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data integration, and data pipelinesFamiliarity with data governance, lineage, and metadata managementExperience working with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCPUnderstanding of modern data stacks and streaming technologiesKnowledge of data privacy, security frameworks, and regulatory complianceAbility to design secure data architectures and implement data protection strategies
Nice to Have
Experience working in high-scale, data-intensive industries such as iGaming or similar digital platformsExposure to enterprise-wide data transformation initiativesStrong stakeholder management skills, including collaboration with governance and compliance teamsExperience contributing to architectural standards and long-term platform strategyAbility to mentor engineers on architectural best practices and design principles
