By combining community building, learner support, alumni engagement, and proactive outreach via calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and email, the associate will help learners overcome challenges, complete their programmes, and remain connected beyond graduation.

- Guide learners through onboarding, helping them understand programme expectations, tools, and milestones
- Conduct welcome calls and orientation sessions to ensure learners feel supported from day one
Learner Retention & Engagement
- Increase learner retention through consistent, personalized outreach via calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and email
- Provide encouragement, accountability, and guidance to help learners remain committed to their goals through innovative solutions
- Monitor learner engagement and progress to proactively address disengagement and improve graduation rates
Community Strategy & Building
- Develop and execute an in-person learning community-building strategy and roadmap that aligns with the organization’s mission and values and drives engagement and student retention
- Create engaging content, events, and experiences that provide in-person learning, foster community interactions, and cultivate a strong sense of learner ownership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, marketing, alumni, and operations) to develop and execute community initiatives, integrating learner feedback into programme improvements
- Build a vibrant, inclusive learning community within the Johannesburg hub and online for learners located outside Johannesburg
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in learning, community management, and entrepreneurship education to continuously enhance the community experience

- Monitor and analyse community metrics (activation, engagement, retention, and graduation) to identify areas for improvement and growth
- Evaluate the success of community programs, events, and initiatives, and recommend strategies to enhance the learner experience
- Maintain accurate records of community engagement, learner feedback, and initiatives for reporting and program optimization
Learner Support & Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service to learners, addressing queries, challenges, and concerns promptly and empathetically
- Offer mentorship, guidance, and referrals to additional resources to support learners throughout their journey
- Coordinate mentorship opportunities and masterclasses with industry professionals and alumni
Hub Engagement
- Maintain a strong physical presence at the Johannesburg hub (3–5 days per week) to support in-person learner engagement and community
- Create a welcoming and productive hub environment where learners can collaborate, learn, and grow
Alumni Engagement & Ecosystem Building
- Maintain ongoing relationships with programme graduates, integrating them into the broader ALX ecosystem
- Design and implement alumni engagement strategies, including events, mentorship opportunities, and peer networks
