Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Oatlands Infant School
We are an innovative, inclusive Infant School just outside central Harrogate, North Yorkshire. We provide experience-led education for 270 pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, before transition to the local Junior School, and are part of the Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust.
Apprenticeship Overview:
- Salary: £7.55 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
- Working Week: Monday to Friday - 8.50am - 3.20pm (30 minutes lunch break)
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Duration: 18 months
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
- Online training supported by our dedicated tutor
- Location: Hookstone Road, Harrogate, HG2 8BT
What you’ll do at work
Throughout the program, you will develop a diverse skill set that will empower you to make a meaningful difference in students' lives.
- Work 1:1 with pupils in Reception, Year 1 and/or Year 2 to support learning and development
- Assist pupils with classroom activities, tasks and routines under the guidance of the class teacher
- Support children’s social, emotional and behavioural development in a nurturing and inclusive environment
- Help pupils to engage positively with learning and build confidence and independence
- Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
- Communicate effectively with children, parents/carers and school staff
- Work closely with class teachers and other professionals to ensure consistent support
- Contribute to a safe, supportive and well-organised learning environment
- Take part in training and professional development provided by the school
- Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures and confidentiality requirements
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, empathy, resilience and a willingness to learn within an educational setting
Desired qualifications
- GCSE English (Grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 equivalent) desirable
- GCSE Maths (Grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 equivalent) desirable
