If you’re a practical, steady leader who can balance compassion with clear direction, this could be the role for you.
Camellia House provides safe, temporary accommodation and support for wāhine and their tamariki as they transition towards independence. We’re looking for an Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the House and lead a small, dedicated team.
This is a varied, hands-on role. You’ll manage the property, support and supervise staff, oversee resident processes, and ensure the House remains a safe and respectful environment for all who stay there. You’ll need to be calm under pressure, confident managing conflict, and able to hold firm boundaries while maintaining trust and dignity.
Alongside operational leadership, you’ll be responsible for financial oversight and reporting to the Board, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the House. Experience with funding applications and grant processes is highly desirable. You’ll understand how to align reporting, outcomes and funding requirements to maintain financial security.
We’re open to backgrounds in service management, care facilities, social services or similar settings where you’ve led people and managed complexity. What matters most is your ability to lead in a challenging environment. You’re organised, resilient, and able to balance accountability with empathy.
You’ll be comfortable making decisions and taking ownership, while still rolling up your sleeves as part of a close-knit team. Governance and financial support are in place, so while confidence with budgets and reporting is important, you won’t be on your own.
This is a 32-40 hour p/w role based in Palmerston North, reporting to the Board.
If you’re ready to lead a small organisation doing meaningful mahi in the community, we welcome your application.
