About the Role
We’re looking for a Tech Lead who loves building products that users love, solving complex technical problems, and leading teams through zero-to-one execution. You’ll help design and build the foundation of amplo’s next-generation platform — architecture that will power mission-critical workflows for thousands of users every day.
You’ll collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership team to design, build, and scale a system that modernizes the way agencies work with data, carriers, and customers. This is both a strategic and hands-on role — you’ll be deep in code while also making critical decisions about architecture, technology choices, and future growth.
Problems to Solve
Automating Data Collection:
Insurance agents spend hours gathering quote data from outdated systems and documents. You’ll help design intelligent systems that use AI to extract, enrich, and unify data from disparate sources — turning tedious manual work into automated precision.
Streamlining Multi-Carrier Workflows:
Agents must reformat the same customer data for multiple carriers, each with their own portals and forms. You’ll help build an intelligent platform that collects data once and distributes it automatically, transforming fragmented workflows into seamless processes.
Modernizing Legacy Integrations:
Carriers still send policy updates in fixed-width AL3 text files from the 1970s. You’ll help design systems that can interpret and transform these files while evolving the industry toward modern, API-based integrations — using AI to detect anomalies and patterns at scale.
What You’ll Do
Build the Core Platform: Architect and develop amplo’s new cloud-native system from zero to one — selecting the right tech stack, infrastructure, and design patterns for scale and reliability.
Lead by Doing: Write code, review pull requests, and own technical decisions that define how amplo builds software.
Collaborate Closely: Work directly with the CEO, product, and customer teams to design solutions that deliver measurable impact.
Hire and Mentor: Identify, interview, and onboard top technical talent. Break complex designs into modular components so your team can execute with speed and quality.
Drive Technical Strategy: Balance near-term delivery with long-term architectural decisions, ensuring we build for scalability and innovation.
Who You Are
7+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development, building production-grade distributed systems.
Proven experience designing scalable, high-availability systems and making pragmatic trade-offs across architecture, performance, and delivery speed.
Strong understanding of modern cloud technologies, databases, and API development.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading end-to-end technical initiatives.
Comfortable working in fast-moving, early-stage environments where ambiguity is the norm.
Passionate about building for impact and helping reshape legacy industries through technology.
