Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to support a high-volume manufacturing and packaging facility. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable operation of automated equipment while driving continuous improvements across electrical, PLC, and mechanical systems. Although primarily a first-shift position, flexibility is required to assist across all three shifts as needed.
Role Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance and performance of advanced automated manufacturing and packaging equipment. Responsibilities include managing electrical controls, PLC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical components, and computerized maintenance systems. This role partners closely with production teams and supports scheduling, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and troubleshoot filling and packaging equipment, including electromechanical systems
Diagnose and support PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo motors, and encoders
Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs (starters, relays, fuses, breakers, wiring, etc.)
Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for electrical and safety systems
Identify and resolve electrical issues with or without blueprints; document operational methods and controls
Analyze downtime and OEE metrics and implement improvement initiatives
Ensure equipment remains compliant and in a validated state affecting product quality
Manage inventory of repair parts and supplies
Collaborate with maintenance technicians during troubleshooting and repair activities
Enforce compliance with cGMPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Maintain clean and organized workspaces in line with 5S practices
Ensure machine guarding, interlocks, and safety systems are properly maintained
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and identify workplace hazards
Oversee preventive maintenance systems using computerized maintenance software
Drive process and equipment improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost performance
Work closely with Quality, Engineering, HR, Materials, Training, and Production teams
Support budgeting, labor planning, and performance tracking for the department
Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting maintenance staff (mechanics and electricians)
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field
Strong background in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and/or leadership role
Journeyman certification or electrical license preferred
Experience supervising both hourly and salaried employees
Background in consumer goods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated industries preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
Advanced technical knowledge of high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment
Results-driven with familiarity in lean manufacturing practices
Experience working in FDA- or ISO-regulated environments
